Biomethane units connected to the gas network

This map identifies all the biomethane units connected to the gas network in France in March 2019.


In March 2019, 91 units were injecting biomethane into the French gas network, mostly from agricultural and urban wastes. It represents around 1425 GWh of the total production capacity per year. 
The first water treatment plant opened in 2015 in Strasbourg.
The two biggest units in France are the BioVilleneuvois methanization unit with a production capacity of 47,2 GWh/year and the Bioloie unit with 62.6 GWh/year. Both are recycling urban waste.
