European strategy of diversifying supplies led the EU-28 to seek new sources of natural gas. This year was marked by an important increase of LNG imports from the United States (+40%) and Azerbaïdjan (+46%), the US still being the 5th biggest importer of natural gas in the European Union. Imports from Russia decreased by 10% in 2020. Between 2019 and 2020, only imports from the US and Azerbaïdjan increased while the others saw their imports decrease, especially Peru with a decline of 76%.
