Biomethane units connected to the gas network in France
This map identifies all the biomethane units connected to the gas network in France in December 2017.
In December 2017, 44 units were injecting biomethane into the French gas network, mostly from agricultural and urban waste. It represents around 696 GWh of production capacity per year.
The first water treatment plant opened in 2015 in Strasbourg.
The two biggest units in France are the ECOCEA tri-methanisation unit with a production capacity of 49.9 GWh/year and Bioloie with 62.6 GWh/year. Both are recycling urban waste.
