Comparison of gas prices paid by European consumers

This dataset compares gas prices in the domestic and industrial segments for different European countries. These are the average prices invoiced at the end of 2021, distinguishing between taxes for each country. The European Union average is weighted by the volumes consumed by each country.

Analysis

For industrials, the price of gas in the European Union averaged 49.6€/MWh in the second half of 2021. The price of industrial gas in the EU increased by 49% compared to the end of 2020. Between 2020 and 2019, the price of industrial gas in the EU had seen a drop of 10%.

 

For individuals, the average stood at 78.2€/MWh for the EU, with an increase of 12% compared to the end of 2020.

 

Mainly for reasons of taxation and distance to producing countries, prices can vary from one to two depending on the country, taxes included for manufacturers and individuals.
