Carbon content of common fuel

This graph compares CO2 emissions of the various fuels commonly used. The content excluding Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) only takes only into account CO2 emissions from combustion. The LCA content highlights the CO2 emissions generated throughout the supply chain (extraction, transmission and distribution).

Analysis

Natural gas plants have the lowest output rate of CO2 per kilowatt-hour and emit 42% less CO2 than coal plants.

Among fuels, natural gas is the most interesting as its supply chain cycle has one of the lowest CO2 emissions. It has, therefore, one of the best LCA ratios among all fossil energies.
